Dr. Umar Haque, DMD
Emergency & General Dentist · Owner, Oak Brook Smiles
Dr. Umar Haque earned his dental degree from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and completed General Practice Residencies at the University of Illinois and the University of Chicago.
He has led Oak Brook Smiles in Oakbrook Terrace since 2002, building a practice around a simple idea: patients deserve to understand exactly what's happening in their own mouths. Every exam comes with a plain-language explanation of what he sees, what it means, and what the options are — including the option to wait and watch.
His approach combines traditional comprehensive dentistry with a whole-health perspective and a genuinely gentle chairside manner. Patients regularly describe leaving an appointment feeling informed rather than lectured, and comfortable rather than judged.

Common dental emergencies
Not sure if your situation is an emergency? Here are the issues we treat most often — and why prompt care matters.
Severe tooth pain Tooth pain from decay, infection, or trauma can worsen quickly. Delaying care may turn a simple fix into a root canal or extraction.
Knocked-out or loose teeth Adult teeth should never be loose. A knocked-out tooth has the best chance of being saved if you see a dentist within the first hour.
Swelling, bleeding, or abscess Swelling, fever, and uncontrolled bleeding can signal a serious infection. Quick treatment protects your mouth and your overall health.

Connie D. “What a wonderful experience! I will be the first to admit how much I hate going to the dentist. It's always an anxiety-ridden experience, and knowing I would need oral surgery did not make this easier. But Dr. Haque and his team are amazing! They all are so helpful and understanding, and made me feel as comfortable as possible. I am so glad I chose Oakbrook Smiles - this will be my permanent place for all my dental needs!”
Rebecca H. “I've had issues with other dentists in the past and Dr. Haque has fixed many of my issues and I never dread going there! The root canal specialist that they work with was also very pleasant. I always leave Oak Brook Smiles pleased with my visit and Dr. Haque and his entire staff are very friendly and fun to see. They all take an interest in me personally as I in them. It makes going to the dentist a lot more fun! I highly recommend Oak Brook Smiles for all your dental needs.”
